We walked to our hotel which was a short distance from the train station and wow our room is divine with an ever changing view looking over the Grand Canal. After checking in we were on a mission to meet up with our fellow cruisers in San Marco piazza both of us adorned with our Aussie hats for identification but sadly we struck out as we were late getting to the meeting point. Not to worry we took in the sites and had a great meal close to our hotel sitting on the edge of the canal.
Where we are staying is a great location as it is away from all the hustle and bustle of the tourists (and there are plenty!!) so you get to experience Venice from a local's point of view.
