Friday 30th August

Thursday was our first sea day and our first rest day since we left home so it was a day with no walking or gyming just resting and catching up on "things".  We also had a meet and greet at 11am with our Cruise Critic Roll call where we finally got to put faces with names.  About 60 people attended then we headed for lunch together in the dining room so that took up a fair chunk of the day.
Friday we are on the greek island of Mykonos.  As we have been here before we opted for a ship's tour to the island of Delos.
Mykonos is very charming with white washed homes and blue domed churches and narrow winding streets with lots of shops selling white cotton clothes and tavernas overlooking the water.
Delos is about half an hour by ferry.  Delos was once a hub of trade and is at the centre of the Cyclades island group.  According to mythology Delos is the birthplace of Apollo, god of music, beauty and light and is considered one of the main archeological sites in Greece.
We had a very energetic and knowledgable guide who walked us around the ruins.  On our return to Mykonos we had time to sprint up to the windmills and  Little Venice to get the photos before getting lost in the back streets under Peter's directions then embarked on quite a long trek to the shuttle bus meandering through all the narrow cobbled streets.  Back on board and looking forward to Istanbul tomorrow.
